August 19, 2015 LOCKHART ISD PRESS RELEASE
Susan Bohn has joined Lockhart ISD as Superintendent of Schools. At a special-called meeting last night, district staff and community members gathered as the Board of Trustees and Bohn signed her employment contract.
Lockhart ISD Board President, Brenda Spillmann said, “We are excited to have Susan and her family in Lockhart ISD, and believe that they will be an integral part of the community. We are looking forward to new beginnings and growth in the district under her leadership.”
Bohn shared that she is happy to be in the Lockhart ISD because she has “sensed from the Board, staff, and the community a very clear and sincere willingness and commitment to support pushing the district to a higher level in how we serve our students.” Bohn asked those at the Board meeting to help her, in the coming months, to understand their needs, wants, and expectations for Lockhart ISD’s students and said, “I can’t wait to get to the office tomorrow morning, so that I can join you in working to shape the lives and futures of the children of our community.”
Bohn is a native of Central Texas, and a graduate of Austin ISD schools. She brings with her to Lockhart her husband and college sweetheart, Bill, who is also an Austin native, and a regional sales director for a medical equipment company. Together they have two young sons, Brice (7 years old) and Brooks (2 years old). Brice will be attending school in Lockhart when school starts on August 24.
Bohn has most recently worked at Lake Travis ISD, a fast-growth school district of 8,800 students in Western Travis County, where she served as General Counsel, Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Interim Superintendent. While at Lake Travis, Bohn supervised a number of areas of district operations, including campus principals, human resources, communications, community services, and athletics. She has also worked as a classroom teacher and as a school attorney in Texas. Bohn has three degrees from the University of Texas at Austin: a Bachelor of Arts in Plan II; a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs; and a Juris Doctorate from the UT Law School. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership at Texas Tech University.
