Lockhart ISD announces new Deputy Superintendent
The Lockhart Independent School District is pleased to announce the selection of Kimberly Brents as the District's new Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction. Ms. Brents fills the position left vacant when long-time educator and District leader Mrs. Janie Wright retired in December.
"I am very excited to have Ms. Brents join our leadership team in this critical role. Teaching and learning is the backbone of all of the work that we do in our District. I am confident in her ability to work with our amazing instructional staff to do great things for our students and for the Lockhart ISD community," said Susan Bohn, Lockhart ISD Superintendent.
Ms. Brents has worked as an educator for 23 years. She received both her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas State University. Ms. Brents began her career as a middle school teacher and coach in Austin Independent School District and then worked as a teacher and assistant principal in Leander Independent School District. She served Lake Travis Middle School in Lake Travis Independent School District as Principal for two years before being promoted to Principal of Lake Travis High School, where she has led students and staff to succeed at higher levels than ever before in the school’s history for over seven years. Ms. Brents has extensive knowledge and skill as an instructional leader and experience constructing and implementing curriculum in the classroom so that teachers are supported and students achieve.
In her new role at Lockhart ISD, Ms. Brents will supervise the District’s Curriculum & Instruction Department, as well as all campus principals. She is expected to be on board at LISD February 22nd.
