LISD Elementary Schools to Take Kindness Challenge

Lockhart ISD elementary campuses will join schools across the country Jan. 23-27, 2017 in this year’s Great Kindness Challenge. Spearheaded by the elementary counselors in partnership with teachers and students, the campuses aim to raise awareness about the importance of kindness and compassion for others as part of a national bullying prevention initiative.

During the challenge, each campus will host special assemblies, celebrate theme days aligned with slogans about kindness, and lead student projects .

The Great Kindness Challenge was created by Kids for Peace, a nonprofit organization, to provide schools tools for creating a positive culture.  In 2016, a total of  5,014,362 students participated and performed over 250 million acts of kindness worldwide.

“The elementary teachers and students are so proud to participate in the challenge this year,” said Deputy Superintendent Kimberly Brents. “The planning for the events has created contagious excitement and buzz across the district.”

Superintendent Susan Bohn added, “The district is so proud of the leadership our young people and teachers are showing to create a culture of kindness in Lockhart ISD.”
